This recipe is from a vegan dairy free blog that is fantastic! I add back dairy and make slight modifications so check the original for the real deal and take a look around.
Baked Tofu
Ingredients
- 1 extra firm tofu that has been frozen, thawed fully and pressed
In one bowl, whisk
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp worcestershire
In second bowl, whisk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- any other spices
- salt
In third bowl, mix
- 2 cup panko
- 1/3 cup veg oil
Instructions
- Preheat to 400, grease some sort of pan or sheet, bigger than a bread pan.
- Get three small flat bottom bowls or small pans and mix up the three bowls above.
- Cut tofu in half and then cut again in height so as to make 4 thin pieces.
- Dredge through each of three bowls, allow to soak up soy. Dredge in flour but may need to spread on. In third bowl place on crumbs and if enough crumbs stick just place on cooking sheet crumbs down and some press crumbs onto the top.
- Spray with PAM or other cooking oil spray.
- Cook for about 20 minutes at 400. Flip halfway, should be browned and crunchy.
Notes
In my oven higher temperature burned rapidly but I am using convection roast setting.
350 calories in a block so probably eat 2/3 a portion and add oil etc. 500 prob.
Serve with Honey Garlic Sauce, a thick, sweet umami combo!
